Starlight Xpress Oculus Pro All Sky Camera
The new Oculus PRO All-Sky Camera from Starlight Xpress captures wide-field sky images for weather, meteor, and auroral observations.
The 1.4-megapixel ICX825AL Sony ExView II CCD in the Oculus PRO has a resolution of 1392 x 1040 pixels and large 6.45 micron pixels with a read noise of 3.5e. An f/1.2 ‘fish-eye’ lens with a focal length of 2.55 mm and a 150-degree field of view collects light for the sensor. The USB2.0 interface transfers a full-resolution image in 0.6 seconds.
The new PRO version of the Oculus has built-in dew detection systems that activate the internal dew heater only when necessary, preventing the camera from overheating when humidity levels are low. The optical assembly is housed in an all-weather polycarbonate hemisphere that can be replaced.

My story began more than 40 years ago looking up at the Moon with a small collapsible telescope my Father had. Encouraged by my parents, who bought me my very own telescope, a 4.5″ reflector, I began to explore the night sky from my family home backyard. Today I do astrophotography from my home in Kitchener, Ontario and also with remote telescopes located in New Mexico and Australia. Some of my images have won awards and have been featured online and in magazines.
